SUMMARY:

Today I’m going to talk about habits, and more particularly, habits that can systematically improve your state of well-being and ultimately your performance in life. I have talked in the past about the importance of building a habit but today I will take it a step further! I will share with you a couple of ideas that will transform the quality of your life.

Habit no. 1: Set your intentions for your day

Every day before you do anything else, before you start answering to emails or attending to other people’s needs, you need to make up your mind about HOW and WHERE you would like to focus your intention for the day. For example my intention for the day could be “to be loving, to be playful and to be a source of inspiration for the people around me”. During the day, you should check every now and then whether your intentions are in anyway fulfilled. If you find yourself  not aligned with your intentions, you can always redirect your focus and start again.

Habit no. 2: be present

We all fight on a daily basis to control our thoughts, to focus on some positive ones, etc. But what I have found out after reading the amazing book by Eckhart Tolle, “The power of now”, is that the only place that we should be focusing is the present. We are constantly preoccupied with looking both backwards and forwards- in fact anything rather than focus on the present, the here and now. But we can never actually experience the past or the future. So whenever you find yourself getting caught up with issues that either belong to the past or the future, the best way to deal with it is focus on the present.

Habit no. 3: find out what your passion is

Have you ever found yourself in the company of people that were passionate with something? A cause, a project maybe? Can you remember how their eyes light up every time they talk about it? These people are usually interesting, fun to be around and in the end they make you feel more inspired, happier and ready to conquer any obstacle. I would encourage you to do whatever inspires you and push yourself to be included in this list of people.

Make sure you spend a bit of time creating your list of top three daily habits that will enable you to feel happier and more fulfilled!

And remember:We all share the same challenges. As long as we share and learn from each other, the better the quality of our lives is going to be.

Hi, this is eva lychrou, greek psychotherapist and coach in London.

Today I’m going to talk about habits, and more particularly, habits that can systematically improve your state of wellbeing and ultimately your performance in life. I have talked in the past about the importance of building a habit but today I will take it a step further! I will share with you a couple of ideas that will transform the quality of your life.

But before I present these ideas to you, I would like to thank Leo for giving me the inspiration behind this topic. Keep watching because in the end I have something really exciting to share with you! So here is Leo’s question:

Hi Eva, my name is Leo, and I have a different question for you today. From all the information and inspiration you have already shared with us, if you had to pick, what would be your top three habits that you would recommend practicing each day so that we can become happier and more fulfilled? Thank you, Leo”.

Leo, thank you for this amazing and inspiring question. I can honestly say that it took me a while to come down with only three suggestions but I made sure they are worth it! So here they are:

Or another example could be “to have fun, to listen more or to be social”.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t always succeed, but you will do your best and whatever happens during your day, you will have already assigned how you would like to be feeling, where you would like to focus your energy.

If you haven’t read the book, you should!

What the author suggests is that our minds are conditioned to think in terms of past and future. That means that we are constantly preoccupied with looking both backwards and forwards- in fact anything rather than focus on the present, the here and now. But we can never actually experience the past or the future. The past is gone and the same will be true of the future, when it arrives. So whenever you find yourself getting caught up with issues that either belong to the past or the future, the best way to deal with it is focus on the present.

For example, try to be totally present when you are talking with your partner instead of being distracted with incoming calls or messages. When you take a break from work, go out and focus on your breaths or how the sunlight touches your skin, etc. Even a few conscious and present moments during the day are enough to transform the quality of your life.

For example, can you think of a better example than Steve Jobs? If you have any other great examples in mind, I would encourage you to sit down and think what are the qualities of these people that you admire? Is there a way you can think of that will enable you to cultivate these traits in yourself too?

Before I wrap this up, here is a tweet for you to share:

soul shine

Leo, these were my top three daily habits to suggest to you! I hope you become inspired by them so that you can create your own list of top three daily habits that will enable you to become happier and more fulfilled.

Now I would like to ask you to help ME spread my passion around!

Do you know of any Greek peοple between the ages of 25 and 40 who would be interested in some free coaching sessions? Yes you heard me right! I’m looking for passionate, committed, determined people who are having issues with their relationships, their career or their lifestyle in general and would like to try 6 + 1 coaching sessions through skype. My only request is at the end of these weekly sessions, they would share this experience by writing a testimonial. So if you know of anyone who would benefit from using my services, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send him or her my way. There will be a waiting list in case the demand is that great!  Thank you in advance for enabling me to fulfil one of my dreams!

As always, sign up to receive updates from me at evalychrou.com and don’t forget this video with your friends.

And remember: we all share the same challenges. As long as we share and learn from each other, the better the quality of our lives is going to be. See you next time!
